Another great show at the Malvern Retreat House Art Show! The wine and cheese reception was well attended and I am thankful that so many of my friends and family turned out. I also had the opportunity to meet many passionate artists of various mediums. The question that I was repeatedly asked was, “How long does it take to make a quilt?” The answer depends on many factors. How big is the quilt? How complicated is the design? Is the quilt hand pieced or machine pieced? How much quilting is done on the finished quilt top? Is the quilting done by hand, or by machine, or a combination of both? Also, how is the quilt finished–using traditional or modern techniques? Is there a binding, and if so, how is it attached– by machine, by hand, or both? For some of my art quilts, it takes longer to design than to put together. These are only some of the considerations for the length of time for quilt making.
Being a part of the Malvern Art Show was very exciting and I hope that I gave attendees inspiration to appreciate and maybe even become involved in art creation.

Artfully yours,
