I made my kitchen curtains about seven years ago from a beautiful French fabric that I purchased at a quilt exhibit. While hand washing dishes recently, I noticed how soiled they had become. That prompted me to take them down for cleaning. A closer look showed that not only were the curtains dirty, but I could also see where they had faded in their sunny location. Instead of putting my curtains in the wash, I headed into my sewing studio to see if I had any fabric that would be suitable for kitchen curtains. Lo and behold, I found several yards of beautiful cloth that someone who once worked in a drapery and upholstery shop had given me. I chose a fabric imported from England–old fashioned but charming. Simple stitching on all four sides and the two panels were completed in no time. Since there was plenty of leftover material, I decided to make a table runner and four matching placemats. The placemats were left un-quilted but certainly could be enhanced with quilting. This kitchen set was an easy one day project. Try whipping up some of these projects for yourself.
Artfully yours,
Chris
