While attempting to do some spring cleaning, I happened across the item in the first photo below. It was a piece handcrafted by a friend of mine who passed approximately 20 years ago. Since I am a sentimental person, I haven’t been able to part with it. This woven piece sits among the junk in my garage, but it did serve a very useful purpose for it held my favorite wearable buttons.
The second photo shows an artistic display of my husband’s buttons. I really like his organized collection, so I replicated his idea to house my buttons. The background which the buttons are fastened, is actually a mini quilt that I made especially for this display. It is made from the denim remnants from my large recycled jeans collection.
If you look closely at my buttons, you can see that many are from Twins Day Festival. My twin and I always look forward to attending Twinfest, the annual celebration of twins. Twins all over the country, and even those from other parts of the world, meet the first weekend in August in Twinsburg, Ohio for the largest festival honoring twins and multiple birth siblings.
My new shadow box will be hung somewhere in my home quilting studio. I do have more buttons, so eventually I will create a second display. Have fun organizing your buttons!
What’s On My Design Wall???
Artfully yours,
Chris
